Farnham Common to London City Airport Taxi
SL2 to London City (LCY) in roughly 75–100 minutes: the A355 to the M40, the A40 east and the A13 to the Docks, at a price fixed before you go.
Taxi from Farnham Common to London City Airport
Budget 75–100 minutes for a taxi from Farnham Common to London City Airport. The village is a few minutes from Junction 2 of the M40, which turns into the A40 at Denham and carries the car most of the way across west London.
Your fare is settled at booking and does not rise if the A13 is busy. We watch the flight number on the return leg and meet you inside the terminal.
People here often compare the car with the Elizabeth line from Burnham or Slough. For a flight with bags, or before the first trains, the car usually wins, and our 24-hour service in Farnham Common means the hour is never the obstacle.

Farnham Common to the Royal Docks, and what changes on the way in
London City is the odd one out from here, because it is not reached by ringing round the M25. The natural start is the A355 north out of the village to Junction 2 of the M40, then east to Junction 1 at Denham where the A40 takes over and carries on into London as Western Avenue. After that it is a question of which way round the top of town is flowing: the A406 North Circular swings east to meet the A1020 in the Royal Docks, or you stay in and pick up the A13 heading out towards Essex. The last part is the same either way, following the signs for London City Airport off the A13 and down to Hartmann Road, with vehicle access to the terminal from Connaught Bridge on the western side and Redgrave Bridge and Albert Road on the eastern. Two things are worth knowing before you leave the house. The airport is inside the London-wide ULEZ, and although it sits well outside the Congestion Charge zone, a route cut through the middle of town would not be, so we keep east of it. The terminal drop-off also has the tightest maximum stay of the five London airports, so it is a set-down and away rather than a wait.
Nearly everything we carry to London City is work. It is a business airport built around short European hops and first-thing departures, and the people booking it from Farnham Common are usually due in a meeting the same morning rather than heading off on holiday. Plenty of them already commute on the Elizabeth line out of Burnham or Slough, or take the Marylebone train from Gerrards Cross, and the sums change completely once there is a case and a laptop bag in the equation, particularly at the hour before the first services run. We take the evening leg as well, which on this route tends to land late and tired. Cars for the meeting itself are part of the same service, so a chauffeur-driven car in the village can be waiting when you get back, and if you would rather the whole thing were invoiced monthly than settled trip by trip, we can set that up for you or your travel booker.
Is the Elizabeth line a good alternative from Farnham Common?
It is the best rail option, but it still involves a change. Elizabeth line trains from Burnham and Slough run through central London to Custom House, next to ExCeL. The airport is not on that branch of the DLR, so from Custom House you ride two stops west to Canning Town and change for the London City Airport branch. The Elizabeth line passes about 300 metres south of the airport without stopping.
Add the drive to Burnham or Slough station first, and the rail version has three stages before you reach check-in. The car goes straight from your drive to the terminal.
At the airport, the runway is short, at 1,508 metres, and only smaller jets such as the Airbus A220 and Embraer E-Jets can use its steep approach. Flights are short-haul by design, which is why the passengers we carry from Farnham Common are mostly on day trips for work. A fixed-price booking in Farnham Common can be made the night before, and our early-morning transfer guide explains how we plan pre-dawn pickups.

Farnham Common to London City: FAQs

Typically 75–100 minutes. The route joins the M40 at Junction 2, follows the A40 into London and finishes on the A13 at the Royal Docks.
Can I take the Elizabeth line from near Farnham Common to London City?
Yes, from Burnham or Slough to Custom House, then the DLR two stops to Canning Town and a change onto the airport branch.
Why is London City mainly for short flights?
Its runway is 1,508 metres long with a steep approach, which limits it to smaller aircraft such as the Airbus A220. That suits short European and UK routes.

Yes. You get a set fare before booking, with no meter and no surge, whichever route the driver takes.
Can you bring me home from London City after a late flight?
