How do you get from Seer Green to London City Airport?

The simplest way from Seer Green to London City Airport is a pre-booked car, which takes roughly 75–100 minutes. The village lies between Beaconsfield and Chalfont St Giles, so the car can reach the A40 either through Beaconsfield or down the A413, whichever is clearer.

The price is fixed at booking. We track your flight for the return, and the driver meets you inside the terminal rather than on the forecourt.

We collect from anywhere in the village and from Jordans next door. For local trips, see our Seer Green taxi service, and for all five London airports, Seer Green airport transfers.

Local Knowledge

Two ways out of the village, one road into the Docks

Seer Green's position between Beaconsfield and Chalfont St Giles gives the driver a genuine choice at the start. One option runs into Beaconsfield to join the M40 at Junction 2, then along to Denham where the motorway becomes the A40. The other goes east to the A413 and south through Chalfont St Peter to the same point at Denham. On a quiet morning they are close; when one is slow, the other usually is not.

From Denham the journey is the same as from any of our South Bucks villages: the A40 east as Western Avenue, then either through London or round the A406 North Circular from Hanger Lane to Beckton, finishing on the A13 by the Royal Docks. The airport is in Newham, inside the ULEZ, and outside the central Congestion Charge zone. The Congestion Charge applies from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and noon to 6pm at weekends and bank holidays, so a central route at those times would cost £18.

Seer Green & Jordans station is on the Chiltern Main Line, with a typical off-peak service of one train an hour each way between Marylebone and High Wycombe. It opened in 1915 as Beaconsfield Golf Links Halt. From Marylebone, the airport is a Bakerloo, Jubilee and DLR journey away, which is why most people flying from the village choose a car.

Timing Your Trip

How early should I leave Seer Green for a London City flight?

Start from your airline's check-in deadline, not the airport's. London City opens check-in two hours before departure and says there is no need to be there earlier. It also says security takes around five minutes on average, but the airline sets the final cut-off.

From that deadline, count back the 75–100 minute drive and add a margin for the time of day. A weekday morning in London traffic needs more than a Sunday afternoon. Tell us your flight when you book and we will suggest a collection time. Our guide to early-morning transfers covers first-wave departures.
