A small village with its own station, and a taxi when the train will not do
Seer Green is covered by GX, though it sits just beyond the core Gerrards Cross area we work most. We would rather say so than promise a car in five minutes. Pre-book your journey and it is allocated in advance, so the timing does not depend on where our cars happen to be.
The village lies in the Chiltern Hills about 1.8 miles east-north-east of Old Beaconsfield, with around 2,400 residents at the 2021 Census. It has a brick-and-flint parish church, Holy Trinity, dating from 1846, a Church of England primary school, and something many larger places have lost: its own railway station, shared with neighbouring Jordans. Until the early 20th century it was mainly a farming village, known for its cherry orchards.
That station shapes most of what people ask us for. Some want a lift to it; others want a car instead of it, because the Chiltern service is not frequent off-peak, or because a flight or a heavy suitcase makes a door-to-door fare the sensible choice.

Why take a taxi when Seer Green has a station?
Because the timetable does not always fit. Seer Green & Jordans is a two-platform stop on the Chiltern Main Line between Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield. Off-peak, the typical service is one train an hour each way between London Marylebone and High Wycombe, with some faster Oxford trains calling at peak times. Miss one and you can wait a while.

The halt has a nice back story. It opened on 1 January 1915 as Beaconsfield Golf Links Halt, was renamed Seer Green in 1918, and only became Seer Green & Jordans in 1950. The golf club that gave it its first name is still next door.
Taxis to Jordans and the Quaker meeting house
Jordans, about 1.2 miles from the station, is a small village that celebrated its centenary in 2019. Its Friends Meeting House was built in 1688, shortly after the Declaration of Indulgence, and William Penn, the Quaker who founded Pennsylvania, is buried in the burial ground there. Nearby, the Mayflower Barn at Old Jordans dates from around 1624; the story that its timbers came from the Mayflower has never been proven.
Some visitors arrive by train or at Heathrow and would rather take a car to Jordans than walk the lanes. We collect from the station, the airport or a London hotel, and wait while you visit if you book it that way.
