Say which half you are in and the rest is easy. The two are close, but traffic and parking behave very differently in each.
The Old Town
The Old Town is the historic core on the A40 London End and Wycombe End, with the A355 running through it between Amersham and Slough. Georgian and older frontages, coaching inns and restaurants line the wide streets, and this is where most evening collections happen. We agree a precise pickup spot in advance so the car is not circling the roundabout.
The New Town
The New Town grew up about a mile north around the station, which opened in 1906 on the Great Western and Great Central joint line. It holds the main shops, the station and a lot of commuter housing. The town is also home to Bekonscot Model Village, open to the public since 1929. Enid Blyton lived at Green Hedges in the town for most of her life, and a model of the house now stands at Bekonscot.
