Beaconsfield to Stansted (STN)

How long does a taxi from Beaconsfield to Stansted take?

Allow around 88–103 minutes. From the Old Town or the New Town we join the M40 at Junction 2, run east to Junction 1A, then take the M25 clockwise almost to Essex before the M11 carries us north to the airport. It is the longest of the Beaconsfield airport runs, which is exactly why a price settled at booking matters here.

The car comes to the house, whether that is a road off Penn Road in the New Town, a cottage behind London End or a newer home out at Wilton Park, and the fare you were quoted is the fare you pay. Flight tracking, a named greeting in arrivals and free waiting on international landings are part of every Stansted booking.

Beaconsfield people fly from Stansted for a reason: the route, the airline or the price only exists there. Our job is to make the far side of the M25 feel no further than Heathrow.

Bags Handled

Your driver waits in arrivals with your name and takes the cases back to the car.

Local Knowledge

The junction that matters at Stansted, and the road that rescues the M25

Stansted begins the way the Luton run does, clockwise on the M25 from Junction 16 after the M40 has dropped you at Junction 1A, and then it keeps going: past the M1 at Junction 21, the A1(M) at Junction 23 and on through Junctions 25 and 26 to Junction 27, where the M11 heads north. The airport tells drivers coming from the London direction to leave at Junction 8a, and to use Junction 8 only when arriving from the Cambridge side, so 8a is ours. Heading north you actually reach Junction 8 first, at Birchanger, and it connects to the A120 as well, which makes it a workable way in if the 8a slip is shut. The bigger risk is the north-east quadrant of the M25 between Junctions 21 and 27, and there is a proper answer to it: leave at the M1 or the A1(M), run east on the A414 across Hertfordshire through Hatfield and Hertford, and rejoin the M11 at Junction 7 by Harlow.

Getting there by public transport means the Chiltern line from Beaconsfield into Marylebone, a crossing of London to Liverpool Street and then the Stansted Express, three legs with luggage before you reach a check-in desk. Most of what we carry this way is leisure travel, families and groups off to Europe, often with a full boot, and the same cross-country planning goes into our longer-distance work up towards the Midlands and the North.

  • Returns tracked from take-off, with free waiting on international flights
  • Drivers on the road through the night as well as the day
Timing

When should you leave Beaconsfield for an early Stansted flight?

Work back from security, not from take-off. Stansted asks passengers to validate their boarding pass at security at least two hours before the scheduled departure, so a 07:00 flight means being through the doors by about 04:45 and, with 88–103 minutes of road and a small margin, leaving Beaconsfield at around a quarter to three. That is a normal collection for us, and our overnight cover in Beaconsfield exists for exactly that hour.

Bag-drop deadlines tighten this winter. Ryanair, the largest airline at Stansted, closes airport check-in and bag drop 40 minutes before departure and moves that to 60 minutes from 10 November 2026, so anyone checking a case should build the extra 20 minutes in. Our guide to leaving for the airport from South Bucks sets out the same arithmetic for every London airport.

At the Airport

Where does the car stop at Stansted, and what does it cost?

Outside the terminal is the Express Set Down, a barrier-free zone read by number-plate cameras. Since 19 March 2026 it has cost £10 for a stay of up to 15 minutes and £28 beyond that, payable online or by phone by midnight the following day. The free option sits in the Mid Stay car park, where a vehicle can stay up to an hour at no charge and a free shuttle bus, running 24 hours, takes about seven minutes to reach the terminal. If you are being dropped by a friend rather than by us, that is worth knowing; our round-up of 2026 drop-off charges compares Stansted with the other London airports. The other four airports from HP9 are on Beaconsfield airport transfers, and getting around Beaconsfield covers the town itself.

FAQ

Beaconsfield to Stansted: your questions answered

How long is a taxi from Beaconsfield to Stansted?

Around 88–103 minutes door to terminal. The route is the M40 from Junction 2, the M25 clockwise from Junction 16 to Junction 27, then the M11 north to Junction 8a.

What does a Beaconsfield to Stansted taxi cost?

We quote a fixed fare for your date, time, passengers and luggage before you book, and that figure does not change with traffic. Ask for a quote and we reply with a single price.

Which M11 junction do you use for Stansted?

Junction 8a, which is the exit the airport asks London-direction traffic to take. Junction 8 at Birchanger, one junction earlier, also links to the A120 and is our way in if the 8a slip road is closed.

Is there a charge to be dropped at Stansted terminal?

Yes. The Express Set Down outside the terminal costs £10 for up to 15 minutes and £28 for longer stays, as of 19 March 2026. Drop-off in the Mid Stay car park is free for up to an hour, with a free shuttle bus to the terminal.

Can I take the train from Beaconsfield to Stansted instead?

You can, but it takes three trains: Chiltern Railways to Marylebone, a cross-London connection to Liverpool Street, and the Stansted Express, which Stansted Airport says takes about 48 minutes from Liverpool Street.

Can you pick up from Beaconsfield station or the M40 services?

Yes. As well as home addresses we collect from Beaconsfield station and from Beaconsfield services at M40 Junction 2, which some travellers prefer as a meeting point for very early starts.

What happens if my return flight into Stansted is delayed?

We track the flight, so the driver arrives for the real landing time rather than the scheduled one, and international arrivals include free waiting while you clear passport control and collect bags.
