If the M4 is heavy on the approach to Junction 4, the A4 Bath Road runs along the northern edge of the airport to the same tunnel, and it is the fallback our drivers use most.
When to leave the village

Paying to drop off, or not
Heathrow's Terminal Drop-off Charge is £7 per visit to the drop-off zones, where waiting is not permitted. If it is not paid by midnight the following day, the vehicle's keeper receives an £80 parking charge. It is built into our fare. The alternative is the free drop-off at your terminal's Park & Ride car park, with a free shuttle bus to the terminal, which suits travellers who are not pressed for time.
The public transport alternative
Chalfont & Latimer station in Little Chalfont has Metropolitan line and Chiltern trains, and Seer Green & Jordans is on Chiltern's line into Marylebone. Either way the trip to Heathrow runs through central London and back out again, which is why a car from the drive is usually easier than dragging cases onto the Underground.
