Chalfont St Peter to Heathrow (LHR)

How long does a taxi from Chalfont St Peter to Heathrow take?

Around 25–40 minutes. The first few miles, down the A413 through Gerrards Cross to Denham, set the pace; once the car is on the M25 the rest is predictable.

The price is settled when you book, and Heathrow's £7 Terminal Drop-off Charge is included, so the figure you are quoted is the figure you pay.

We collect from the village centre and from Austenwood, Chalfont Common, Layters Green and Horn Hill, so nobody has to walk out to the main road with cases. For visitors flying in, the driver can meet them at Heathrow and bring them straight to Chalfont St Peter.

Local Knowledge

Out of the Misbourne valley and into the right Heathrow terminal

Nearly every Heathrow run from the village begins the same way: south on the A413 through Gerrards Cross to the Denham roundabout, onto the A40 for Junction 1 of the M40, across to Junction 1A and down onto the M25 at Junction 16. From there we travel anticlockwise, and your terminal decides where we leave.

Central terminals

Junction 15 puts us on the M4, and the airport spur at Junction 4 runs down into the tunnel, after which Terminals 2 and 3 divide.

Terminals 4 and 5

For those we stay on the M25 to Junction 14, where Terminal 4 is signed along the A3113 Airport Way and Terminal 5 has its own approach from the A3044. Guessing wrong means a lap of the perimeter to put right, so the terminal is confirmed when you book rather than at the barrier.

If the M4 bunches up before Junction 5, the A4 Bath Road reaches the same tunnel, and for Terminal 4 the A312 Parkway down to the Waggoners roundabout does the job just as well.

How early to set off

The A413 through Gerrards Cross is the variable. Very early it is empty, and a 04:00 pickup for a 06:45 short-haul flight gets you to the terminal with time to spare. On school-day mornings the valley road and Gerrards Cross fill up together, so a weekday long-haul departure at 10:30 is better served by a 06:15 collection than a later one. Our departure-time guide for South Bucks has more worked examples.

Drop-off, pickups and the free option

At the terminal, Heathrow charges £7 for every entry to a drop-off zone, and no waiting is permitted there. Payment is due by midnight the next day, or an £80 parking charge follows; with us it is simply in the fare. If you would rather avoid the forecourt, your terminal's Park & Ride car park allows free drop-off with a free shuttle bus to the doors. For arrivals, the driver waits in a car park rather than at the kerb, which Heathrow does not allow, and comes into the hall to meet you.

Rail is not a shortcut

The nearest stations are Gerrards Cross, on Chiltern Railways into Marylebone, and Chalfont & Latimer, on the Metropolitan line and Chiltern's Aylesbury line. Neither goes anywhere near Heathrow without crossing London first.

Who we drive

Chalfont St Peter produces a steady stream of Heathrow traffic: a large commuter village of some 12,700 people in SL9, with the Epilepsy Society's national centre on Chesham Lane drawing clinicians and visiting families from well beyond Buckinghamshire, and the offices at Chalfont Park a few minutes down the A413. Firms here that send people through Heathrow most weeks usually have it billed to a monthly business account, and because the first departures need a car well before dawn, our round-the-clock cover across SL9 is what makes those bookings work. The other airports we cover from the village are on the Chalfont St Peter airport transfers page.
