Little Chalfont to Heathrow (LHR)

Little Chalfont to Heathrow takes around 30–45 minutes

Little Chalfont is one of the few places we cover that joins the M25 from the north side, at Junction 18 near Chorleywood, rather than at Denham. That puts Heathrow around 30–45 minutes away, with the M25 between Junctions 18 and 15 doing most of the work.

Your fare is fixed at booking. Heathrow's £7 Terminal Drop-off Charge is included, and a slow M25 does not change the price.

We pick up across the village, from Bell Lane, Burtons Lane and Westwood Park to Chalfont & Latimer station and the offices at Amersham Place. When you return, we follow the flight and the driver meets you inside the terminal.

Local Knowledge

Out of Little Chalfont on the A404, and the terminal you actually need

Little Chalfont sits on the A404 itself, so the usual way out towards Heathrow is east along White Lion Road, through Chorleywood, and onto the M25 at Junction 18. From there the car runs anticlockwise, past Junction 17 at Maple Cross and Junction 16, where the M40 comes in.

Terminals 2 and 3

Leave at Junction 15 for the M4 eastbound, come off at Junction 4 and follow the spur into the tunnel under the airfield to the Central Terminal Area.

Terminals 4 and 5

These do not share that approach. Both are signed from M25 Junction 14: Terminal 4 along the A3113 Airport Way, and Terminal 5 on its own access road off the A3044. Arrive at the wrong one and the fix is a long drive round the perimeter, which is why we confirm the terminal when you book rather than at the barrier.

If the A404 is not moving

The alternative is to turn the other way and run south on the A413 through Amersham, Chalfont St Giles and Chalfont St Peter to Denham, picking up the M40 at Junction 1 and joining the same anticlockwise M25 at Junction 16. If the M4 spur itself is blocked, the A4 Bath Road along the northern edge of the airport reaches the same tunnel.

Pickup times that work

With a 30–45 minute run, a 06:00 short-haul flight needs a car at about 03:15 to be at the terminal two hours before departure. Midweek long-haul flights around 10:00 mean driving in the morning peak, so we collect at around 06:00 and let the extra margin absorb any queues between Junctions 18 and 16. Families flying at half term will find more ideas in our half-term travel tips.

The Heathrow drop-off charge

Any vehicle entering a Heathrow terminal drop-off zone pays £7, with no waiting allowed, and an unpaid charge becomes an £80 parking charge after midnight the next day. We include it in the fare. You can also ask to be dropped at the Park & Ride car park for your terminal, which is free, with a free bus to the doors; it adds a little time, so it suits unhurried departures best. How the charges compare at Gatwick, Luton and Stansted is set out in our airport drop-off charges guide.

Why not the Metropolitan line?

Chalfont & Latimer station is on the doorstep, but its Metropolitan line and Chiltern trains head into London, not towards the airport. Reaching Heathrow means crossing the city and changing for the Elizabeth line, the Piccadilly line or the Heathrow Express, which is a long trip with suitcases compared with a car from your door.

Who books this run

Most Little Chalfont Heathrow bookings are single cars rather than convoys: a director from the offices at Amersham Place catching an early departure, a family off Bell Lane or Burtons Lane going long haul, or someone landing back who would rather not haul cases across London to Chalfont & Latimer. School holidays at Dr Challoner's High School fill the pre-dawn slots weeks in advance. Regular flyers from HP7 tend to put the outbound and the return on a monthly account so both settle on one invoice, and our Little Chalfont airport transfers page covers the other airports on the same basis.

FAQ

Little Chalfont to Heathrow Taxi Questions

How long is a taxi from Little Chalfont to Heathrow?

Around 30–45 minutes. The driver takes the A404 through Chorleywood to M25 Junction 18, then runs anticlockwise to Junction 15 for Terminals 2 and 3 or Junction 14 for Terminals 4 and 5.

Why join the M25 at Chorleywood instead of Denham?

Little Chalfont is on the A404, which reaches M25 Junction 18 directly. Going via Denham means the A413 through Amersham and the Chalfonts first, so we keep that as the alternative for when the A404 or Junction 18 is congested.

Can I get the Metropolitan line from Little Chalfont to Heathrow?

Not directly. Trains from Chalfont & Latimer run into London, so you would need to change for the Elizabeth line, the Piccadilly line or the Heathrow Express to reach the airport.

Is Heathrow's £7 drop-off charge included from Little Chalfont?

Yes, it is part of the fixed price. If you prefer, we can use the free drop-off at your terminal's Park & Ride car park, where a free shuttle bus takes you to the terminal.

What time should I leave Little Chalfont for a 6am flight?

For a short-haul 06:00 departure we would suggest a 03:15 pickup, which gets you to the terminal about two hours ahead on quiet early-morning roads.

Do you run Heathrow transfers for businesses in Little Chalfont?

Yes. We run airport transfers for businesses in the village, including early departures and visitor collections, on a pay-as-you-go basis or a monthly account.

Will you collect me from Heathrow if my flight to Little Chalfont is delayed?

Yes. The flight is tracked live, so the pickup follows the real landing time, and international arrivals include free waiting time for passport control and baggage reclaim.
