Which airport is quickest to reach from Little Chalfont?
Heathrow is the quickest, at 30–45 minutes, followed by Luton at 55–70 minutes. Both start with a short run east along the A404 to the M25 at Junction 18. Heathrow covers most long-haul and full-service flights; Luton is a strong choice for low-cost European trips. Little Chalfont is a 20th-century village that grew up around a railway station. Chalfont Road station opened in 1889, was renamed Chalfont & Latimer in 1915, and the houses around it took the name Little Chalfont in 1925; the village only became its own civil parish in 2007. Does the driver use the A404 or the A413 from Little Chalfont?
Usually the A404. White Lion Road, the A404, runs east through the village to the M25 at Junction 18 by Chorleywood, about four and a half miles away, and most airport runs start there. The alternative goes south down Nightingales Lane to the A413 near Chalfont St Giles and on through the Misbourne valley to Denham, joining the M40 at Junction 1 and the M25 at Junction 16. Your driver picks whichever is flowing better at that hour.
Heathrow
From Junction 18 the M25 runs south past the M40 interchange to Junction 15 for Terminals 2 and 3, or Junction 14 for Terminal 5. The A413 route joins the same stretch at Junction 16. Either way, allow 30–45 minutes. Details are on the Little Chalfont to Heathrow taxi page.

Luton
This is where Little Chalfont's position pays off. From Junction 18 it is only three junctions clockwise to the M1 at Junction 21, then up to Junction 10 for the airport: 55–70 minutes in all. Luton's nearest drop-off area costs £9 for 12 minutes. Book Little Chalfont to Luton.
Gatwick and Stansted
Gatwick (85–100 minutes) means heading south on the M25 from Junction 18, past Heathrow to Junction 7 and down the M23; its drop-off zones cost £10 for up to 10 minutes. Stansted (95–110 minutes) means the M25 clockwise to Junction 27 and the M11 to Junction 8, where the Express Set Down is £10 for 15 minutes. London City
70–95 minutes. The driver chooses between the A413 and A40 into London and across to the A13, or the M25 round to the east and in from there, depending on the traffic. Book Little Chalfont to London City.

Can you get to the airport from Chalfont & Latimer station?
Yes. Chalfont & Latimer has both the Metropolitan line and Chiltern Railways, which gives Little Chalfont better rail links than most villages its size. Off-peak there are four Metropolitan line trains an hour towards Aldgate and two Chiltern trains an hour to Marylebone. The useful airport connections are:
- Heathrow: Metropolitan line to Farringdon, then the Elizabeth line
- Gatwick: Metropolitan line to Farringdon, then Thameslink
- Luton: Metropolitan line to King's Cross St Pancras, then Thameslink or East Midlands Railway to Luton Airport Parkway and the DART
- Stansted: Metropolitan line to Liverpool Street, then the Stansted Express
Each is one change, or two for Luton, which is manageable with light luggage. It is less appealing with a family and suitcases, or when a delayed inbound lands long after the last Metropolitan train has gone.
