Where does a taxi drop you at Henley Royal Regatta?
On the A4130, which the Regatta names as its main taxi drop-off point, a short five-minute walk from the Enclosures. That is where your GX driver sets you down and, at a time you choose, where you are collected again. You never need a car park label, and nobody in your party has to stay sober to drive home.
From Gerrards Cross the drive heads west on the M40 to Junction 4 at Handy Cross, then down the A404 and across on the A4130 into Henley-on-Thames. It is a short trip by car, usually around 30 to 45 minutes, with the Regatta’s town-centre traffic arrangements the main thing to plan for. The Regatta runs a one-way system through Henley town centre, and it warns that the route in and out of its car parks changes depending on when you arrive and leave.

When is Henley Royal Regatta 2027?
The Regatta is raced over six days each summer, Tuesday to Sunday, finishing on the first weekend of July. The official site gives the 2027 dates as Tuesday 29 June to Sunday 4 July.
First held in 1839, it is raced on Henley Reach, a straight stretch of the Thames starting at Temple Island. If you are going on several days, we can repeat the same pick-up each morning and quote all the journeys together.
What if you want to drive and park instead?
The official Regatta car parks are on the Berkshire side of the river, postcode RG9 2LP. They open at 07:30, the gates are locked at 21:00 and overnight parking is not allowed. Daily parking can be booked ahead, or bought at the gate if spaces remain, and car park labels have to be collected before your visit.
The car parks are not suitable for coaches, caravans, motorbikes or commercial vehicles; minibus and disabled parking go through the Badge Office on 01491 572153. The 21:00 lock-up is the detail that catches people out after a long afternoon, and it simply does not apply when a driver is collecting you.
What should you wear and carry at Henley?
Dress for the enclosure you are entering. The Stewards’ Enclosure checks its code at the gate; the Regatta Enclosure has no dress code at all.
In the Stewards’ Enclosure, gentlemen wear lounge suits, or jackets or blazers with trousers, with a tie or a cravat. Ladies wear dresses or skirts with a hemline below the knee, or jackets or blazers with trousers, or trouser suits; hats are customary but optional. Shorts, leggings, tracksuits and jeans are not allowed, the same rules apply to children aged ten and over, and the Regatta says anyone not dressed appropriately will not be admitted. Mobile phone calls are not permitted inside, although texts and photos are.
Bags matter too. Only small bags and baby-changing bags are allowed into the Regatta Enclosure, and in the Stewards’ Enclosure bags are limited to aircraft carry-on size, with limited left luggage space. Neither enclosure accepts food or drink brought in, apart from small bottles of water in hot weather. Leaving the picnic hamper and the spare shoes in the car is one more reason to be driven.

Is the train a good alternative?
It can be. Great Western Railway runs a special Regatta timetable to Henley-on-Thames from London Paddington, and the Regatta puts the station a flat walk of about 10 minutes from the Stewards’ Enclosure and 15 minutes from the Regatta Enclosure entrance. From Gerrards Cross, though, the rail route means travelling in towards London and back out again, so for most South Bucks addresses the direct drive is simpler.
The Stewards’ Enclosure opens 30 minutes before racing starts each day, so we time the morning drop-off to land you there comfortably before it opens.
