What is the easiest way to get to Wimbledon from Gerrards Cross?
A pre-booked car that drops you near the Grounds and comes back for you when play ends. The All England Lawn Tennis Club is on Church Road, London SW19 5AE. During The Championships the club, working with the Metropolitan Police, puts temporary restrictions on parts of Church Road, Somerset Road, Bathgate Road and Burghley Road, so you cannot count on being driven right up to the gates. Your driver sets you down at the nearest practical point outside those roads and agrees the pick-up spot with you before you walk in.
From Gerrards Cross the drive normally runs down the M25 and onto the A3, or along the A40 and the A205 South Circular when the orbital is slow. Public transport means a change in London and the District line to Southfields, the closest station, which the club puts at a 15-minute walk from the Grounds. A car removes the change, the crowded platform and the walk back in the evening.

When is Wimbledon 2027?
The Championships are held every year over a fortnight from late June into July. Wimbledon has published the 2027 dates as Monday 28 June to Sunday 11 July 2027.
By road, Wimbledon is roughly 22 to 23 miles from Gerrards Cross. With clear roads that is typically around 45 to 50 minutes of driving, but tournament traffic around SW19 builds through the day, so we add margin rather than quote the off-peak figure. Tell us your first match or the time you plan to join The Queue and we work the pick-up back from there.
Leaving is the part people underestimate. Late play under the roofs on Centre Court and No.1 Court can push the finish well into the evening, and the official Park & Ride runs its last bus from the Grounds at 10pm, or 10.40pm when those courts play late. Because we run 24 hours a day, your car simply waits for the last point, at the fixed price you agreed.
Where do taxis drop off and pick up at Wimbledon?
Wimbledon publishes no private-car drop-off at the gates during The Championships. The tournament’s own taxi guidance covers shared fixed-fare taxis from Southfields and Wimbledon stations, with return taxis leaving from Wimbledon Park Road (exit via Gate 1) and from the Somerset Road rank (exit via Gate 12). Those gate numbers are a handy reference: we tell you in advance which side of the Grounds your car will be waiting on, so you know which gate to leave by.
If you are joining The Queue, the start point is in Wimbledon Park, about five minutes’ walk from Southfields station. The club says the Wimbledon Park Road main entrance to the park is open 24 hours during the tournament, while the Revelstoke Road and Home Park Road pedestrian gates open from 6.30am to 10pm. Check the Queue status on wimbledon.com before you set off, because once the Queue is full no more Queue cards are issued.
Can you park at Wimbledon, and what can you bring?
Only if you have pre-booked. Public car parking spaces must be booked in advance through a myWimbledon account, with no on-day sales except at the Park & Ride. That service runs from Morden Park on the A24 (SM4 5QU), costs £20 for a standard car or £10 for a fully electric vehicle, and operates from 6.30am to 11pm. Championships car parks close no later than an hour after the Grounds shut, with no overnight parking.
Pack light. Bags are searched at the entry gates and should be no bigger than aircraft cabin size, 40cm x 30cm x 30cm. Anything larger can go into left luggage outside the Grounds, charged at £1, at Somerset Road, inside Wimbledon Park opposite Gate 3, or at Car Park 10 on Wimbledon Park Road. Anything you do not need on court can simply stay in the car.

What makes Wimbledon different from other tennis events?
Wimbledon, first staged in 1877, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and the only Grand Slam still played on grass. The club was founded in 1868 as the All England Croquet Club. Centre Court and No.1 Court both have retractable roofs, which is why play can continue into the night when the weather or a long match demands it.
