How do you get to Pinewood Studios (Iver Heath) from Buckinghamshire?

From Gerrards Cross and South Bucks the journey barely touches the motorway network. Pinewood is only around five miles away on local roads, so most of our runs go directly across country lanes and the A-roads around Iver Heath to Pinewood Road, rather than looping onto a motorway. The studios stand about 18 miles west of central London, but for our home patch they are effectively a village-to-village hop.

If your journey starts further afield, Pinewood gives two official approaches. From Junction 1 of the A40/M40 at Denham, take the A412 towards Slough for about 2 miles, go straight over two mini-roundabouts onto Church Road, and take the exit signed Pinewood Studios at the next roundabout. From Junction 5 of the M4 (the A4 exit towards Colnbrook, Datchet and Langley), take the first exit onto Wood Lane at the first roundabout, go straight over the second, then follow the Pinewood Studios signs. How long is the drive from Gerrards Cross and South Bucks?

From Gerrards Cross the run to Pinewood is roughly 10 to 15 minutes by car, depending on traffic, over that short five-mile hop. Pinewood itself puts the taxi ride from Gerrards Cross or Slough station at about 10 minutes, and lists Gerrards Cross station as a stop on its own shuttle service. From the Chalfonts, Beaconsfield, Fulmer, Stoke Poges, Farnham Common, Denham, Iver, Amersham, Seer Green, Penn and Slough the times are broadly similar, and because we are local we know which lanes clog at school run and shift-change times and route around them.

That short, predictable drive is a large part of why booking ahead pays off here. Heatherden Hall, the Grade II listed Victorian country house on the lot, is licensed for weddings and corporate functions, so its arrival points differ from the working stage and backlot entrances.

Because Pinewood is gated and security-controlled, both cars and passengers generally need to be pre-authorised and name-cleared at the entrance barrier. There is free on-site parking with no permit required once you are through, but you cannot simply drive up unannounced. When you book, tell us the name your visit is registered under, the entrance or building you are heading to and your call or arrival time, and we brief the driver so the approach to the gate is clean. If your plans involve the studio shuttle instead, the free 16-seat minibuses run Monday to Friday (not bank holidays) between the studios and Gerrards Cross, Slough, Uxbridge and West Ruislip stations. At Pinewood they leave from outside Double Lodge on Pinewood Road; at Gerrards Cross they stop outside the station entrance. Riders must show proof of identity, and visitors need a letter or email from the studios authorising them to use the bus, so a car is the simpler option at weekends, on bank holidays or when you do not have that authorisation.
