How do you get to Pinewood Studios (Iver Heath) from Buckinghamshire?

From Gerrards Cross and South Bucks the journey barely touches the motorway network. Pinewood is only around five miles away on local roads, so most of our runs go directly across country lanes and the A-roads around Iver Heath to Pinewood Road, rather than looping onto a motorway. The studios stand about 18 miles west of central London, but for our home patch they are effectively a village-to-village hop.

Pinewood is ringed by three motorways, which matters if your journey starts further afield or you are combining it with an airport run. The M40 meets the studios at Junction 1 (Uxbridge/Slough), the M25 at Junction 16 (the M25/M40 interchange) and the M4 at Junction 5 (Langley). Coming off the M40 at Junction 1, the route follows the A412 towards Slough, over two mini-roundabouts, then takes the Pinewood Road exit at the large roundabout, with the studios about a mile along on the left. From the M4 at Junction 5 (Langley), the drive follows signs for Iver Heath, passing The Red Lion, before turning into Pinewood Road.

Heathrow is only about ten miles from the gate, so a flight arrival and a studio drop-off fold neatly into a single transfer, rather than two separate bookings. We plan the exact approach around your call time or event slot and around whatever roadworks or events are live on the day.

How long is the drive from Gerrards Cross and South Bucks?

From Gerrards Cross the run to Pinewood is roughly 10 to 15 minutes by car, depending on traffic, over that short five-mile hop. Gerrards Cross station sits about the same distance from the studio gate, which is why the studios list it as a stop on their own shuttle service. From the Chalfonts, Beaconsfield, Fulmer, Stoke Poges, Farnham Common, Denham, Iver, Amersham, Seer Green, Penn and Slough the times are broadly similar, and because we are local we know which lanes clog at school run and shift-change times and route around them.

That short, predictable drive is a large part of why booking ahead pays off here. For a 6am call time or a late wrap, having a car already assigned and cleared removes the one variable you cannot control on the day: whether a ride will actually turn up on time. Many arrivals use Double Lodge on Pinewood Road, which is the pickup and set-down point for the studio shuttle buses, while premiere, corporate and wedding guests are usually directed to a specific entrance for their event. Heatherden Hall, the Grade II listed mansion at the heart of the site, is licensed for weddings and corporate functions, so its arrival points differ from the working stage and backlot entrances.

Because Pinewood is gated and security-controlled, both cars and passengers generally need to be pre-authorised and name-cleared at the entrance barrier. There is free on-site parking with no permit required once you are through, but you cannot simply drive up unannounced. When you book, tell us the name your visit is registered under, the entrance or building you are heading to and your call or arrival time, and we brief the driver so the approach to the gate is clean. If your plans involve the studio shuttle instead, note that the free buses run Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) from Gerrards Cross, Slough, Uxbridge and West Ruislip stations, pick up at Double Lodge, and also require prior authorisation from the studios.
