A car straight to your terminal's drop-off area is the easiest option, because there is no direct train and every terminal is behind a dock gate. From Gerrards Cross the drive is about 70 miles: M40 to the M25, M25 to the M3, then south to Southampton. We plan the last stretch around your terminal, so you arrive at the right gate.

How long is the drive from Gerrards Cross to Southampton?
Plan on about 90 minutes from your door to the terminal. With clear roads the 70 miles take roughly an hour and twenty minutes, and the extra time allows for the two parts of the trip that vary: the M25 between the M40 and the M3, and the queues into the docks when several ships are changing passengers on the same morning.
The final approach depends on your terminal. For the Eastern Docks, cars follow the A33 to Platform Road and Dock Gate 4. For City and Horizon, the A33 leads to West Quay Road and Dock Gate 10. For Mayflower, ABP signs drivers to Dock Gate 20, which is reached from the M271 and Redbridge Road, followed by about two miles through the docks.

Which terminal and dock gate will you use?
Your cruise documents tell you the terminal, and the terminal tells you the gate. These are the berths and postcodes ABP publishes for each one.
The port is split into the Eastern Docks and the Western Docks, which are some distance apart by road. If you head for the wrong one, you may have to leave the port and drive round to the other gate with your luggage still in the car. We therefore take the terminal name at booking and set the route to the correct gate, not a general "cruise port" search.
Terminal allocations can change between sailings, so check your latest documents before you travel and tell us if the terminal changes. Horizon and Mayflower are also the two terminals with shore power, which lets suitably equipped ships switch off their engines at berth.

What happens when you reach the terminal?
You arrive at your allocated time, drop your bags outside, then check in inside. ABP describes the sequence the same way at every terminal: the bag drop area is outside the building, and once your cases are handed over you go inside to check in and through security before boarding.
Cruise lines allocate arrival times, and ABP asks passengers to keep to them. Arriving hours early usually just means a longer wait. We set the pick-up from that time, not a general rule, and if your line changes the slot, a quick call or WhatsApp is enough for us to move the booking.
Each terminal has a passenger drop-off area and a short-stay car park, so your chauffeur can pull in, unload next to the bag drop and leave without holding up the queue. Keep passports, tickets, medication and anything you need that afternoon in your hand luggage, because checked cases are taken on board separately.

What time should we arrive at the terminal?
At the arrival time your cruise line gives you. ABP asks passengers to arrive at their allocated time rather than early, so we work back from that slot, add a margin for traffic and agree the pick-up time with you.
Where are we dropped off at the terminal?
Every terminal has a passenger drop-off area and a short-stay car park. The bag drop is outside the terminal building, so your chauffeur unloads the cases there, you hand them over, and then you go inside to check in and pass through security.
Do we need to book parking at Southampton?
Not with a transfer. If you drive yourself, long-stay parking has to be pre-booked, and ABParking is the port's official on-site cruise parking provider for several cruise lines. A chauffeur drop-off avoids that cost and the walk from the car park.
Can you collect us when the cruise returns?
Yes. We book the return against your ship's scheduled arrival, terminal and date, and meet you at the terminal once you have collected your luggage and cleared the building.
Can we get to the terminals by train instead?
Southampton Central is the nearest station. ABP puts City and Horizon about a mile's walk away, Mayflower 25 to 30 minutes on foot, and QEII and Ocean around two miles away, with taxis waiting on both sides of the station. From South Bucks that means a train journey with a change and a second taxi at the other end.
Is the price fixed?
