How your driver gets from Penn to the right Heathrow terminal
The usual route drops down the B474 through Knotty Green into Beaconsfield, joins the M40 at Junction 2 by the Pyebush roundabout, and heads east to Junction 1A, where the M25 is joined anticlockwise at Junction 16. Off peak it flows well; at school-run and rush-hour times both the B474 and the M25 slow, which is why we quote a range and set your pickup against live traffic rather than a fixed guess.
Terminals 2 and 3
From Junction 16 the car continues to Junction 15, runs east along the M4 to Junction 4 and follows the airport spur into the tunnel beneath the northern runway.
Terminals 4 and 5
For these the driver stays on the M25 to Junction 14. Terminal 5 has a dedicated approach off the A3044, while Terminal 4 is signed along the A3113. They really are separate roads, and a wrong turn means a long loop of the airport, so the terminal is taken when you book.
If the M40 is not moving
From Beaconsfield the driver can take the A355 south through Farnham Common and Farnham Royal into Slough and join the M4 at Junction 6, which leads to the central terminal spur at Junction 4, or to the M25 at Junction 4b for Terminals 4 and 5.
Setting a pickup time from Penn
For a 06:00 departure to Europe, a car at about 03:15 gets you to the terminal two hours ahead on empty roads, and some passengers like to be collected a few minutes earlier still and doze on the motorway. Weekday long-haul flights in mid-morning are the ones to plan carefully: the B474 school traffic and the M25 peak overlap, so for a 09:30 departure we would collect at around 05:30.
Paying Heathrow's drop-off charge
Heathrow charges £7 each time a car enters a terminal drop-off zone, allows no waiting, and issues an £80 parking charge if payment has not been made by midnight the next day. We include it in the fare, so there is nothing to remember. Rail and bus from Penn
There is no station in Penn or Tylers Green. The nearest is Beaconsfield, whose Chiltern trains run into Marylebone, after which you cross London for the Heathrow Express or the Elizabeth line. Carousel's Flightline 102 bus runs from Beaconsfield via Gerrards Cross and Uxbridge to Heathrow Central Bus Station, but you still need to reach Beaconsfield first.
