The airport is signposted from M5 Junction 18 for traffic from the north and Junction 22 from the south, and neither delivers you to the door: the last miles run through the edge of Bristol and out along the A38. That last leg is part of the two-hour figure.
The start varies by village. Slough and Iver are already close to the M4; Gerrards Cross, Fulmer and Stoke Poges drop down to it past Slough; and from Beaconsfield or Penn the A404 towards Maidenhead can be the quicker way on, depending on traffic.
